The monument was built between 1931 and 1935 during the first
independence of Latvia to commemorate the Latvian soldiers killed
in the Latvian Independence War (1918-1920).

Our guide told us the interesting history of this statue. By this occasion we got also two answers we could use to log this earth cache.
